  • Designed to minimise the use of artificial cooling and heating by locating the main livings areas towards the north.
  • The double brick construction with the concrete slab on ground helps to maintain a constant comfortable internal temperature throughout the house.
  • Ventilation louvres are used to capture the cool fresh summer breezes and to remove the stale air for healthy living.
  • External Venetians were placed on the outside of the glass to stop the unwanted summer sun and heat from entering into the bedrooms and living areas.
  • Large solar panels were placed on the roof top to reduce the electricity bill by 40%.
  • Double glazed windows are installed to reduce the heat loss during the winter months.
  • The maximum energy efficiency rating for new homes in NSW is 5 stars. This house achieved 6 stars.
  • A 35000 litre rainwater tank was installed to irrigated the gardens, flush the toilets and to wash the clothes.
  • All timbers used are recycled hardwoods that were de-nailed to reduce the degradation of our rainforest.
