Mulgoa Custom Designed Home – Award-Winning Residential Design
This award-winning custom designed home in Mulgoa, Sydney, was one of those projects that truly challenged and inspired me as a designer.
Built on a steep 25-acre site, the design had to carefully address bushfire flame zone requirements, protect the local flora and fauna, respect areas of Aboriginal heritage significance, and stay within strict building envelope restrictions.
From the start, I worked closely with the Mulgoa Progress Committee and local Council to ensure that every design decision balanced compliance with creativity. The goal was to design a home that sat naturally within its environment , a place that felt grounded in the landscape but still expressed modern architecture and comfort.
The result is a home that not only met every requirement but was also recognised as a Winner for Custom Designed Homes and received the Award of Excellence at the Sydney Regional Design Awards (BDANSW).
Projects like this highlight what I love about custom home design in Western Sydney, creating homes that respond directly to their setting, deliver strong design outcomes, and meet the needs of both the clients and the community. Thoughtful, sustainable, and uniquely personal, that’s what good residential building design in NSW should be.
