Stanmore Heritage Extension – Home Renovation NSW
Heritage Conservation | Alterations & Additions | Custom Home Design | Building Designer Sydney
This heritage home renovation in Stanmore, Sydney involved transforming a Heritage Conservation–listed property with a very limited footprint into a functional, spacious and contemporary family home. As a Building Designer specialising in heritage renovations, the design challenge was to create a modern extension that respected the home’s architectural significance while dramatically improving its liveability.
The project delivers a carefully considered residential extension that introduces a light-filled open-plan living zone to the rear of the property. A seamless indoor/outdoor connection was achieved through a refined material palette, upgraded glazing, improved circulation and a layout that encourages natural light deep into the home.
Our approach focused on balancing heritage-sensitive design with the practical needs of modern living. The new extension retains and restores key original features while integrating contemporary architectural elements that elevate everyday functionality. This includes reworking internal spaces, enhancing sightlines, improving energy efficiency and achieving a more intuitive flow between rooms.
As specialists in custom home design, alterations and additions, and architectural drafting, we ensured the entire design aligned with Council heritage controls while still providing the homeowners with the additional space and convenience they needed. The result is a thoughtfully restored and extended heritage home that enhances street appeal, preserves historic character and delivers a sophisticated, timeless interior suited to modern family life.
