THE BRIEF
The owners wanted a contemporary custom home as part of a knockdown rebuild, with a strong connection to the rear yard and outdoor entertaining areas while providing practical family living spaces. The home needed to feel open, functional and highly liveable while responding appropriately to the site constraints and local planning requirements.
THE DESIGN RESPONSE
The home was planned around a seamless indoor-outdoor living experience, with the main living areas opening directly onto a spacious rear entertaining zone. Early collaboration with the owners and Blue Mountains Council included a pre-lodgement consultation, helping identify planning requirements early and supporting a smooth Development Application process. The result is a well-resolved custom home that balances functionality, natural light and everyday family living.
PROJECT OUTCOME
Blaxland House demonstrates how thoughtful custom home design, early planning and clear council consultation can streamline the approval process and improve project outcomes. The completed residence delivers generous family living spaces, strong indoor-outdoor integration and a contemporary architectural character that sits comfortably within its Blue Mountains setting.
