THE BRIEF
The owners wanted a luxury single-storey acreage residence that responded to the site's slope while providing generous living spaces, extensive vehicle storage and a strong connection to the surrounding landscape. Having previously worked with these clients, the brief called for a highly personalised design tailored to their lifestyle and long-term needs.
DESIGN RESPONSE
The design incorporated a substantial basement garage and workshop beneath the home, allowing the residence to maintain an elegant single-storey appearance while significantly increasing usable floor area. Sustainable design principles guided the planning, with careful solar orientation, passive solar design and room placement improving year-round comfort and energy efficiency. Close collaboration with the owners on architectural detailing, interior design selections and material finishes helped create a cohesive contemporary acreage home.
PROJECT OUTCOME
Dural House demonstrates how acreage home design can successfully balance architectural quality, sustainability and practical family living on a challenging sloping site. The completed residence delivers generous living spaces, efficient solar performance, extensive vehicle accommodation and a strong connection to its rural surroundings, creating a highly functional and refined lifestyle property.
