Building on our experience with numerous projects across the area, we were commissioned to design this award-winning contemporary single-storey home in Dural. This project was a real standout for us, picking up national finalist spots for both the overall build and the interior design.
The 3-acre site had a significant slope, so we tucked the massive eight-car garage and workshop into a basement level. To make life easier, we included a bathroom and an internal lift, perfect for getting groceries or heavy luggage straight up into the main house.
Because the owners wanted a home that stayed comfortable year-round, we used our sustainable design expertise to flip the typical layout. We positioned the bedrooms at the northerly front to soak up the winter sun and kept the living spaces on the southern side to stay cool in summer. With plenty of east and west glazing, the home captures the best of the light while framing those incredible vistas across the neighboring fields.
This was actually the second home we’ve designed for these clients, and they gave us full creative freedom on the exterior finishes. We also collaborated closely with Leigh Holt Interiors, who handled the furniture and lighting to perfectly match the designs vibe. The whole process was incredibly smooth and we secured Hornsby Council approval in just eight weeks with zero neighbor objections, leading to a stress-free build that really maximizes the beauty of Dural acreage living.
