Hidden Valley House | Mulgoa

I was initially engaged for this project to give the home a simple interior refresh. However, once I was on-site, I could see a much grander potential if the owner was willing to push the boundaries. I proposed a major renovation that involved extending both upwards and outwards on the ground floor to truly capture the spirit of the location. Within minutes of hearing the vision, the owner was on board, and we moved forward with a much more ambitious brief.

Being set on several acres, the design was all about the views. We took full advantage of the spectacular outlook across the Mulgoa Valley, reorienting the home to flood the living spaces with northern light and facilitate natural cross-ventilation.

Navigating the Penrith Council approval process for a renovation of this scale took several months of negotiation, but we eventually achieved the exact outcome we were looking for. The result is a home that no longer just sits on the land but actively connects with it. For me, this project highlights the value of looking past the "basic facelift" to find the long-term potential of a property.
