Medinah House is an award-winning custom home in Twin Creeks Estate, Luddenham, and a strong example of how bespoke residential design can balance high-end architectural style with real-world sustainability. The project received a national award for New Residential Building up to 350m², but its real success is in how well the home performs throughout the seasons and how comfortably it supports everyday living.
Passive Solar Orientation & Energy Efficiency
The home was carefully positioned to make the most of northern sunlight. By focusing on orientation, solar access and internal comfort, the design allows the main living areas to stay naturally cooler during the peak of a Western Sydney summer while capturing winter sun during the colder months. This approach supports energy efficiency without compromising the contemporary architectural aesthetic the clients wanted.
Client Experience & Seasonal Performance
One of the most rewarding parts of this project was hearing from the owners, Ron and Narelle, after they had lived in the home for a full cycle of seasons. They mentioned that they did not fully realise the impact of the home’s orientation until the first summer arrived and the interiors stayed remarkably cool. In winter, they enjoyed the warmth of the sun entering the home and only needed heating at night, confirming the practical value of the passive solar design strategy.
