Custom Home Design on the Nepean River designed with a central thermal core and advanced glazing to optimize natural light and river-front climate control.

Riverside House | Nepean River Penrith

I designed Riverside for a spectacular site right on the banks of the Nepean River in Penrith. From the very first sketch, the goal was to create a custom design that truly connected to the water. We focused on capturing the views, natural light, and those cooling river breezes that make this part of Sydney so unique.

The heart of the home is a central pool courtyard. It acts as a visual anchor from almost every room in the house. By using large glass doors, we opened up the interior to create an easy, bright flow between the living areas, the verandahs, and the pool. It’s a layout that really reflects the relaxed, indoor-outdoor lifestyle that families in Western Sydney are looking for.

One of the standout features we included is a glass floor on the upper level. It’s a dramatic detail that allows natural light to filter deep into the home while offering a direct view down to the pool below. It is one of those memorable architectural moments that adds real personality to a build.

From the orientation to the material selection, every part of Riverside was designed for long-term comfort and sustainability. For me, this project represents the best part of being a building designer in Penrith: taking a unique site and transforming it into something timeless, functional, and deeply personal.
