THE BRIEF
The brief was to create a substantial single-storey family home that takes advantage of the large acreage-style lot while keeping the principal living spaces on one level. Generous bedroom accommodation, multiple living and entertaining spaces, a dedicated office, extensive storage, a large garage and an in-ground pool were all incorporated into the design.
THE DESIGN RESPONSE
The floor plan is organised around a generous central kitchen, family and dining area, supported by a butler’s pantry, theatre/rumpus, bar and separate office. The accommodation includes a master suite with dressing room and ensuite, three additional bedroom suites with walk-in robes and ensuites, plus separate guest accommodation. The building envelope and documentation were also developed around the site's technical requirements. The home is assessed as BAL-12.5, requiring bushfire-responsive construction, while the site falls within the ANEC 20–25 aircraft noise contours associated with Western Sydney Airport. The completed NatHERS assessment achieved a 7-Star thermal performance rating.
PROJECT OUTCOME
The design and DA documentation have been completed for this substantial Silverdale residence, with the application currently awaiting approval. The result is a generous acreage home that combines extensive family accommodation and entertaining spaces with the bushfire, energy efficiency and aircraft noise requirements specific to the site.
