THE BRIEF
The brief was to create a contemporary custom home that would stand apart within the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie residential market while remaining commercially viable. The design needed to maximise site potential, address complex planning constraints and provide a practical, buildable outcome suited to modern family living.
DESIGN RESPONSE
Detailed building design, architectural drafting and technical planning were undertaken to address the site's sloping topography, BAL-29 bushfire classification and mine subsidence requirements. The design combined strong street appeal, functional living spaces and sustainable design principles while ensuring compliance with DA and CDC approval requirements and maintaining construction efficiency.
PROJECT OUTCOME
Merealba House demonstrates how thoughtful custom home design can overcome complex site constraints without compromising architectural quality. The completed residence delivers a visually distinctive and market-ready outcome that responds to planning requirements while providing a practical alternative to standard project home designs. The project also reflects an ongoing collaboration with a repeat developer client across Lake Macquarie, Newcastle and the Hunter Region.
