Project Overview
Mt Vernon House is an award-finalist extension designed to blend modern luxury with the home’s original classic character. As a Sydney building designer experienced in large-scale residential extensions and lifestyle-focused renovations, the goal was to create a resort-style retreat that felt like a natural evolution of the existing property rather than a disconnected addition.
Pool, Cabana & Outdoor Entertaining
The design centres around high-end lifestyle features, including a pool and cabana area, a fully equipped home gym and a dedicated outdoor entertaining zone with a custom pizza oven and pergola. Each element was planned to complement the traditional architecture of the main house while introducing the contemporary function, comfort and flexibility expected from a high-end family lifestyle complex.
Design Integration & Existing Home Character
A key focus was ensuring the new work felt cohesive with the existing residence. The extension and outdoor areas were designed to enhance the overall footprint of the home while respecting its original architectural character. This allowed the project to feel substantial and modern without losing the established charm that made the property appealing in the first place.
