THE BRIEF
The owners wanted to substantially expand their existing acreage home with new spaces for family living, recreation and entertaining while retaining the established residence and its architectural character. The brief included a gym, connecting breezeway, cabana, alfresco area, swimming pool and covered links between the new additions and the existing home. The new work also needed to respond to the scale of the rural property and integrate naturally with the established landscaping and residence.
THE DESIGN RESPONSE
The building design focused on creating a seamless relationship between the original residence and the new extension works. Careful site planning and architectural drafting ensured the pool, cabana and outdoor entertaining zones complemented the existing home while improving functionality, circulation and visual appeal. Contemporary lifestyle features were incorporated without compromising the established character of the property, resulting in a unified and highly functional family estate.
PROJECT OUTCOME
Mt Vernon House demonstrates how a large-scale home extension can successfully combine architecture, outdoor living and lifestyle-focused design. The completed project delivers expansive entertaining spaces, premium recreational facilities and a strong connection between indoor and outdoor living areas while preserving the appeal of the original residence.
