THE BRIEF
The brief was to create a high-end custom home that responded to significant flood planning constraints while capturing the site's exceptional outlook. The owners wanted a spacious family residence that would remain comfortable year-round, provide strong indoor-outdoor connections and take full advantage of the riverfront setting.
DESIGN RESPONSE
Extensive pre-lodgement planning and architectural drafting were undertaken to address flood risk and establish appropriate floor levels and site planning controls. Sustainable design principles were incorporated through careful solar orientation, passive climate design and natural light optimisation to improve year-round comfort and reduce energy demand. Open-plan living areas, generous entertaining spaces and large glazing were positioned to maximise river and Blue Mountains views while responding to the Western Sydney climate.
PROJECT OUTCOME
Nepean House demonstrates how custom home design can successfully respond to complex flood-affected sites without compromising lifestyle, architectural quality or sustainability. The completed residence delivers flood resilience, strong solar performance, expansive family living and seamless indoor-outdoor entertaining while maintaining a close connection to its unique riverfront location. The result is a climate-responsive luxury home that remains both practical and visually striking within the Penrith landscape.
