At Distinct Innovations, we have extensive experience creating award-winning designs for heritage homes in the Concord and Strathfield areas. The Salt Street project is a prime example. It involved a major rear extension to a heritage-listed home, which required a very careful, respectful touch to preserve the original character.

Navigating the approval process for a heritage property is never a quick task. We spent nearly a year in detailed negotiations with Canada Bay Council to get the Development Application (DA) across the line. The goal was to deliver a design that respected the home’s history while adding the modern functionality the owners needed.

Working on a heritage property always presents unique challenges, and the owners had an incredible eye for detail. I was proud to see the builder excel in every aspect of the construction, which ultimately led to a win at the 2023 Master Builders Association (MBA) Awards.

Beyond the awards, the project was a massive success from an investment standpoint. When the owners sold the property in 2024, they didn’t just recoup their renovation costs; they achieved a substantial profit. The home sold well above the market average and set a new sales record for the neighborhood. It is a great testament to how quality heritage home design in Concord can significantly elevate both the lifestyle and the market value of a property.
